Valencia, Spain - Rounds 1&2 Review

31/05/2009

For 20 year old Canadian, Robert Wickens, it is the dream start to the new championship. The Red Bull Junior Team driver lays down the clearest marker to his challengers with a clean sweep of pole positions and wins in both races. He is joined on the podium in Race 1 by Brazil's Carlos Laconelli and Kazim Vasiliauskas of Lithuania, with British drivers Henry Surtees and Alex Brundle getting onto the points chart in seventh and eighth places. In Race 2, Wickens once again shows his class, leading Italy's Mirko Bortolotti and Philipp Eng from Austria across the finish line. The international flavour of the series is immediately evident, with drivers from no fewer than ten different nations scoring championship points during the weekend.
