Oschersleben, Germany - Rounds 11&12 Review06/09/2009Once again, it's Andy Soucek who hits the ground running. Qualifying on pole for Race 1 ahead of Bortolotti, Wickens and Donington Race 2 victor Jousse, the Spaniard strokes home to a comfortable seven second win over Bortolotti with Vasiliauskas making headway from sixth on the grid to take the remaining podium position. For Race 2, Aleshin and Jousse relegate Soucek to third spot on the grid alongside Bortolotti. At the finish, Aleshin just manages to hold off Soucek by less than half a second, with Jousse the final podium claimant in third. In contrast to Race 1 where almost half a minute separated the eight points scorers, less than five and a half seconds cover the first seven finishers in Race 2. Nevertheless, Soucek heads to the penultimate rounds of the series in Imola with only the Red Bull sponsored drivers - Canada's Robert Wickens and Mikhail Aleshin of Russia - standing between him and the championship title. |
