F2 Season Review

04/02/2010

Comma supplied all the lubricants, coolants and brake fluids the series required as it returned to reclaim its place as a feeder series to Formula 1.

Spain's Andy Soucek took the honour of becoming the first F2 Champion for a quarter of a century by clinching the title in dominant style, with one double-header race weekend still remaining. He didn't have the whole championship his way though - eight different winners emerged from the 16 races, showing that competition was close throughout the season.

The 2009 Formula Palmer Audi Championship also enjoyed eight different winners through the year, and was even more competitive than Formula Two. Richard Plant emerged on top at the end of a close title fight, beating Kazim Vasiliauskas in a battle that went down to the very last round.

Sadly, in talking of the 2009 season it's impossible to forget the events at Brands Hatch in July, when the young Henry Surtees tragically lost his life just a day after claiming his first podium in Formula Two. A freak accident, it showed that despite the huge gains in safety over the past 30 years, motorsport can still be dangerous.

We're very proud to have been technical partner to Formula Two in its comeback year and wish it even more success in the future.
