Successful appeal elevates Morris to BRDC Formula 4 vice champion

09/10/2013

Seb Morris's appeal against exclusion from his BRDC Formula 4 race win at Snetterton on September 8th has been successfully upheld following a hearing by the Motor Sports Council. The technical stewards of the Snetterton meeting had originally judged the gurney flap on Morris's Hillspeed-entered car to have infringed the regulations, and Morris was stripped of his 30 points for the win pending the Hillspeed team's appeal against the ruling.

With reversal of the Snetteron decision, 18 year old Morris from Wrexham in north Wales thus displaces Charlie Robertson as vice champion to Lanan Racing's Jake Hughes in the inaugural BRDC Formula 4 series.

Morris was widely tipped pre-season to take the championship, and a trio of podiums in the opening rounds at Silverstone in April gave him an instant lead in the title race. A dip in form - including a spectacular exit from the second race - at Brands Hatch next time out was the only serious blot on his campaign record, but although he re-grouped impressively with a consistent run of podiums and top ten results to keep him in the frame, actual race wins eluded him until the series' second visit to Snetterton.
